Description
Internationally acclaimed Shiatsu master explains how to use the method he has developed according to his new theory of pressure points and meridian lines.

Shiatsu is the Japanese art of healing using hand pressure, which is based on the ancient Oriental medicine theory of ki, or the body's natural energy flow.

Ryokyu Endo is an internationally known master of Shiatsu, and has been dubbed "miracle hands" for his healing abilities. He trained in traditional Oriental medical techniques, and went on to practice what he called "Tao Shiatsu," a technique based on Taoist principles, which he has taught at workshops and lectures in various countries, and which he explained in Tao Shiatsu: Life Medicine for the 21st Century (Japan Publications, 1995). He has since made several startling discoveries that have led him to adapt his original technique. Shiatsu is based on the theory that there are certain points on the body that can be used for healing, called tsubo. Conventionally tsubo are in fixed positions, Endo now believes that they are constantly moving according to changes in a person's ki. He now believes that conventional shiatsu builds up resistance to treatment in the body. In The New Shiatsu Method, Endo explains the principles of ki, tsubo and meridians-the lines along which ki energy flows-providing ki meditation and breathing techniques, and explaining how to develop ki power. He also demonstrates how to visualize meridians and locate tsubo, and provides a detailed, clearly illustrated, step-by-step guide to his treatment techniques that can be practiced by the individual on him/herself or on a partner in order to heal a specific ailment or generally promote a sense of wellbeing.
